Jacek Szołtysek is a full professor and Head of Social Logistics Department. For over 15 years he has been interested in the potential of logistics in city management, heath care, humanitarian actions and other applications of social logistics. He’s initiated new research directions in city logistics, returnable logistics and in the new area of applied logistics – the social logistics. He is an author of 7 academic handbooks, 6 scientific monographs, 60 chapters in scientific monographs, over 170 research articles published in Poland and abroad. He is a reviewer of 17 theses.
He lectures on city logistics at bachelor, master and postgraduate courses in Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Palestine. He’s an expert in the city functioning, most of all in the idea of smart city and manners of shaping social capital and other resources required to create an intelligent city.
He’s been awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Polish Association of Transport Engineers and Technicians, the Rector of the University of Economics in Katowice, the Rector of the Warsaw School of Economcs. His handbook “Podstawy Logistyki Miejskiej. Wydanie drugie poszerzone” received the Special Journalists’ Award for the best academic handbook. The monography “Logistyka miasta” published by the PWE in Warsaw in 2016 received an award from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for extraordinary scientific accomplishments in December 2017.
